The World
Meaning
The World is card twenty-one, the last card of the Major Arcana. The classic card shows a dancing figure wrapped in a purple sash, holding a wand in each hand, inside a large oval wreath. In the four corners are a man, an eagle, a lion, and a bull, the same figures that appear on Wheel of Fortune. Here they are calm. Everything has come together, and the figure moves freely at the center.
In a reading, The World points to completion and success: a goal reached, a phase finished, a lesson fully learned. It can relate to graduation, a finished project, travel, or simply feeling whole. The card asks you to recognize what you’ve done and enjoy the moment before rushing on. Every ending in tarot is also a beginning, so The World quietly prepares you for the next cycle.
Upright
Completion, achievement, wholeness, integration, fulfillment. An invitation to celebrate how far you’ve come and close the chapter well.
Reversed
Unfinished business, delays, lack of closure, shortcuts. A nudge to tie up the loose ends before moving on.
In love
Fulfillment and wholeness. For singles it favors feeling complete on your own and open to connection; in a relationship it points to a satisfying milestone and a sense of belonging together.
Career and money
Strong for finishing big projects, reaching goals, and earning recognition. Wrap things up properly and take stock before you choose your next challenge.
As advice
Finish what you started and take time to appreciate it. Then decide, with a clear head, what comes next.
