Tarot Year Card Calculator
What is a tarot year card? It’s the Major Arcana card you get by adding up your birthday (month and day) and a year. A tarot tradition based on simple arithmetic: a theme to reflect on this year, not a forecast. Enter your birthday below; for the card of your whole life, try the birth card calculator.
Frequently asked
How is the tarot year card calculated?
Add every digit of your birthday — month and day — and of the year you choose. If the total is over 22, add its digits again until it’s 22 or less. That number is your Major Arcana card; 22 is The Fool. July 20 in 2026: 7 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 19, The Sun.
Why don’t you ask for my birth year?
The year card only needs your month and day; the year is the one you’re reflecting on. In the year you were born, your year card is the same as your birth card.
Is the year card a prediction?
No. It’s a tarot tradition — a theme to reflect on this year, not a forecast. The card doesn’t know what your year holds; you decide what fits.
When does my year card change?
Here it follows the calendar year you pick. Some readers count the year from birthday to birthday instead — if that suits you better, look at both years.
Where does the year card come from?
Tarot author Mary K. Greer popularized the year card alongside the birth card. We add the digits the same way as our birth card calculator, so both cards follow one method.
Is my birthday saved?
No. The calculation happens in your browser; your birthday isn’t sent or stored anywhere.
